Turn modules on and off

Every RankKit SEO module, what it does, whether it is on by default and how to switch it on or off from the Modules card on the Dashboard.

RankKit SEO is split into modules: titles and meta, schema, sitemaps, redirects and so on. Each module is a switch. Only what you turn on runs, so a feature you don't use adds no work to your site.

You manage modules on the Modules card of the Dashboard. Only administrators can change them.

Turn a module on or off

  1. Go to RankKit SEO → Dashboard.
  2. Find the Modules card.
  3. Click the switch next to the module. RankKit SEO saves straight away and shows Module on or Module off.

There's no separate save button.

On the free plan, the two Pro modules show a PRO badge and their switches are disabled.

Note Turning off AI assistant stops every AI feature in RankKit SEO. To pause AI for a while without changing the module, use Pause all AI in Settings → AI provider instead. It also stops AI requests from agents.

Modules without a Dashboard switch

A few modules are controlled elsewhere:

Module Default How to change it
robots.txt (AI crawler rules and extra robots.txt lines) On No Dashboard switch. An AI agent with settings access can change it with the set_module tool.
Breadcrumbs (the [speedrank_breadcrumbs] shortcode and template tag) On No Dashboard switch. Also changeable with the set_module agent tool.
Broken link checker (Pro) Off Turn it on with the On/Off switch on the Broken links card at the bottom of RankKit SEO → Site Audit. See Broken link checker.

Modules agents can't change

AI agents can turn most modules on and off with the set_module tool if their token has settings write access. They can never change AI agents (MCP), AI assistant, AI crawler tracking or 404 monitor. Those can only be changed by a person in wp-admin, so an agent can't switch off your safeguards or tracking. See Agent tokens and scopes.

FAQ

Does turning a module off delete its data?

Turning a module off stops it from running. Your settings are kept, so when you turn it back on it picks up where it left off.

Which modules should I turn on after installing?

The defaults suit most sites. Consider turning on IndexNow if you want Bing and others told about new posts straight away, External link rules if you want nofollow or new-tab rules on outbound links, and AI agents (MCP) when you're ready to connect an AI agent.

Why is a module on but I don't see its feature?

Some features also have their own switch in Settings. For example, Local SEO has an Enable switch in Settings → Local SEO, and the Pro news and video sitemaps each have their own switch in Settings → Sitemaps. The External link rules module is the same switch as Apply rules to external links in post content in Settings → Links.
