Use Site Kit by Google's connection
Use Site Kit by Google's connection for RankKit SEO's Search Console and GA4 reports, with no Google Cloud project or second sign-in.
On this page
Site Kit by Google is Google's own WordPress plugin. If it is set up on your site, RankKit SEO can use its Google connection instead of asking you to create a Google Cloud project and sign in again.
Everything in RankKit SEO that uses Google data then works through Site Kit: the Analytics reports, the dashboard, the audit, the AI writer and your AI agents. With RankKit SEO Pro, the opportunities, rank tracker, URL inspection and other Search Console features also run through Site Kit.
Connect through Site Kit
- Install and activate Site Kit by Google, then finish its setup: sign in with Google and connect Search Console. Connect Analytics too if you want GA4 data in RankKit SEO.
- Open RankKit SEO → Analytics. While RankKit SEO is not connected to Google, the Site Kit by Google card is at the top.
- Click Use Site Kit's connection.
RankKit SEO picks up the Search Console property and GA4 property chosen in Site Kit. The connection line then reads Connected to Google · Through Site Kit by Google. You can still choose a different property from the Search Console and Google Analytics 4 lists.
The card guides you if Site Kit is not ready yet: Install Site Kit, Activate Site Kit or Set up Site Kit.
How it works
RankKit SEO calls Google with the sign-in of the administrator who connected Site Kit. Site Kit keeps that sign-in fresh. Nothing is copied out of Site Kit, and RankKit SEO keeps its read-only reports: it never changes your Search Console or Analytics settings.
Clicking Disconnect in RankKit SEO only stops RankKit SEO from using Site Kit. Site Kit itself stays connected.
Troubleshooting
| Message | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| "Site Kit is not connected to Google yet. Finish the Site Kit setup first." | Site Kit is active, but nobody has finished its setup. | Open Site Kit and connect Search Console. |
| "Site Kit's Google sign-in has expired. Open Site Kit and reconnect, or sign in with Google in RankKit SEO." | The admin who connected Site Kit lost access, or Google revoked the sign-in. | Reconnect in Site Kit, then click Use Site Kit's connection again. |
| "This version of Site Kit cannot share its Google connection." | Site Kit changed how it stores its connection. | Update Site Kit and RankKit SEO, or connect with your own Google credentials. |
| No GA4 data | Site Kit's Analytics module is not connected. | Connect Analytics in Site Kit, then choose the property in RankKit SEO. |
FAQ
Do I still need Site Kit after connecting?
Yes. RankKit SEO uses Site Kit's sign-in every time it asks Google for data. If you deactivate Site Kit, connect Google directly in RankKit SEO instead.
Should I use Site Kit or RankKit SEO's own Google connection?
Both give RankKit SEO the same reports. Site Kit is quicker if it is already set up. RankKit SEO's own connection (your Google Cloud OAuth client or a service account) works without another plugin and suits agencies managing many sites.
Is the Site Kit integration part of RankKit SEO Pro?
No, it is in the free plugin.
