RankKit SEO ships ready-made workflows as MCP prompts. A prompt is a tested set of instructions that tells the agent which RankKit SEO tools to call, in what order, and when to stop and ask you. Clients that support MCP prompts offer them as slash commands or in a prompt menu.

The workflows are free on every site. A workflow is offered only when every tool it uses exists on your site, so a few need RankKit SEO Pro or a Google connection. You can see the list in the Ready-made workflows card on RankKit SEO → AI Agents; on a free site, workflows that need Pro carry a PRO badge.

"AI provider key" means the workflow uses tools that write with your own AI key, set in RankKit SEO → Settings → AI provider. See Add your AI provider key.

What each workflow does, step by step

SEO health check

Calls site_overview and run_audit, then summarises your score and the five issues with the biggest impact in plain language, with how many pages each affects. For each issue it proposes a fix and names the tool that would apply it. It changes nothing and asks which fixes to apply.

Write missing meta descriptions

Takes an optional limit (default 10). Lists posts missing a description, reads each one with get_post_content and writes a 130 to 155 character description that is accurate to the content and includes the focus keyword if one is set. It shows you a table, previews the changes with a dry run (with bulk_update_post_seo on Pro, otherwise one post at a time), and applies them after you confirm, giving you the change or batch IDs so you can revert.

Optimise one post

Takes a post_id (required). Reads the post's SEO, content, analysis and internal link suggestions, explains the failed checks, then proposes a better SEO title, meta description and focus keyword, plus 3 to 5 internal links with anchor text and where they fit. It previews with a dry run and waits for your go-ahead.

Fix 404 errors with redirects

Reads the 404 log, and for the 20 most-hit URLs looks for the best matching live page. It proposes a 301 for each clear match and marks the rest "leave as 404" or "410 gone", then creates the redirects after you approve the table.

Search traffic review

Compares the last 28 days of Search Console and GA4 AI referral data with the previous period, then looks for opportunities. For the five pages with the most clicks at stake, it proposes a better title and description that match the queries people use, suggests content additions for striking-distance queries, and previews the changes with a dry run.

Resolve keyword cannibalization

Finds groups of posts that target the same main keyword, reads them and recommends for each group: keep one as the main page and re-target the others, merge and 301-redirect, or differentiate. It lists the exact tool calls it would make and runs nothing until you approve.

Plan and draft an article

Takes a keyword (required) and an audience (optional, default "general readers"). Creates a content brief and shows you the intent, outline, questions, entities, content gaps and internal links. When you approve the brief, it writes the article as a draft post and gives you the edit link. The draft is not published; check the facts before you publish.

Technical SEO check

Reads connection status, robots.txt, sitemap settings, default noindex rules, llms.txt settings and technical and indexing audit issues. It reports anything that blocks crawling or indexing, sitemaps that leave out important content, AI crawlers blocked by mistake and missing connections, and previews each fix with a dry run.

Fix audit issues

Runs the audit and works through critical and warning issues one at a time: it explains each in one sentence, previews the fix with a dry run, applies it only after you say yes, and tells you whether it is live or waiting for your approval.

Write missing alt text

Lists images without alt text and, for up to 20 of them, asks your AI provider for alt text and checks it against the file name and the post the image is attached to. It shows a table, previews with a dry run and applies after you confirm.

Recover lost traffic

Finds pages losing Google traffic. For the three with the biggest loss, it writes a refresh brief and reads the page, then summarises why each is slipping, the queries it lost and the edits to make. It previews a new title and description with a dry run and lists the content edits for you to make in the editor.

Permissions still apply

A workflow can only use the tools the agent's token or connection allows. If a step needs a tool outside the token's permissions, that call is refused. Choose a Content editor or Full token for workflows that write. See Agent tokens, scopes and access levels.

Every write in these workflows goes through the usual safety nets: dry runs, approval mode and undo. See Approval mode, dry runs and undo.

FAQ

My client doesn't show any RankKit SEO workflows. Why?

Not every MCP client supports prompts. You can still ask for the same thing in your own words, for example "Run an SEO health check: audit the site and propose the five highest-impact fixes."

Can I add my own workflows?

Not through RankKit SEO's settings. You can save your own instructions in your AI client, and developers can add tools with the speedrank_abilities filter (see Hooks and filters).

Do workflows change anything without asking?

They are written to preview first and wait for your go-ahead. With approval mode on, even confirmed changes wait in the Change Log until you approve them.
