MCP tool reference

This is the complete list of tools RankKit SEO's MCP server offers to AI agents. The same tools are registered as WordPress abilities on WordPress 6.9 and later (see WordPress Abilities API support).

You can browse the same list on your own site in the MCP tools card on RankKit SEO → AI Agents, with search, a Read/Write filter, Show descriptions and area chips. On a free site, the card also lists the Pro tools so you can see what Pro adds.

How many tools you get

RankKit SEO 1.1.1 defines 136 tools: 104 in the free plugin and 32 more in RankKit SEO Pro. How many a site offers depends on two conditions:

• Google connected. 8 tools are listed only while Search Console and GA4 are connected: 3 free (search_console_summary, analytics_overview, analytics_ai_referrals) and 5 Pro (search_performance, search_top, search_opportunities, inspect_url, analytics_landing_pages).
• WooCommerce active. 2 Pro tools (get_product_identifiers, update_product_identifiers) are listed only while WooCommerce is active.

The headline numbers, 101 free and 128 with Pro, are the counts without a Google connection (and, for Pro, with WooCommerce active). The Server card on RankKit SEO → AI Agents shows the count for your site under Tools / prompts.

What a particular agent sees is further limited by:

• Token access. Tools outside the token's permissions are hidden. See Agent tokens, scopes and access levels.
• The WordPress user. A tool is listed only if the token's user has the capability it needs, including the RankKit SEO permissions in the role manager.

Conventions

• Type: Read tools never change anything. Write tools accept dry_run: true (preview old and new values without saving) and an optional reason (stored as the Change Log note). With approval mode on, writes are queued for your approval. Writes that change the whole site (settings, modules, robots.txt, redirects, verification codes, backups and reverting site-wide changes) always wait for an administrator to approve them in the Change Log, and return pending_approval. • Token access: the permission area the tool needs on a token, at Read level for read tools and Write level for write tools. A few tools need a second area, shown with a plus sign.
• AI provider: tools whose names start with ai_, and a few others noted below, call your own AI provider and need a key in RankKit SEO → Settings → AI provider. They count toward your daily AI request limit.
• Bulk limit: bulk tools handle up to 50 items per call.

FAQ

Why does my client show fewer tools than this page?

The list depends on your edition, Google connection and WooCommerce, then on the token's permissions and its WordPress user's capabilities. A Read only token, for example, sees no write tools.

Can I add my own tools?

Yes. Developers can add tools with the speedrank_abilities filter. They appear in the MCP server and in the WordPress Abilities API. See Hooks and filters.

Which tools change post content?

insert_faq, insert_internal_link and fix_broken_link edit post content, and ai_write_draft creates a new draft post. Every other write changes SEO fields, settings or redirects. All of them are logged in the Change Log.
